Your updates to your current assignment are somewhat not jibing with each
other; particularly the last two. In your secondtolast update, you bring to
light the idea that you are looking for something that would be unexpected to
the viewers of the photograph, as one of our Your Shot Community members put so
succinctly (read the following.) "This is a very challenging assignment. Even
among the Editor's Favorites, there are only 10 shots that I would consider
'Unexpected Discovery'. That means when I look at the picture, I will say,"I
never knew that could happen!" In tandem with that comment http://www.balenciagatop.com/ , you posted an
example (the above photo) that definitely presents something unexpected, even to
you. All this is great. Finally, there was some clear direction, except no real
mention of the definite desire to have photos showing what people are thinking
and feeling inside an unexpected situation, save for your following sentence. "I
tell young photographers to get themselves into chaotic situations where lots of
things are happening (a busy street corner in Tokyo for example) so they have a
greater chance to practice shooting."However, in your latest update, you finally
mention what you are looking for by saying, "But there are very few photographs
that I can look into and see what the people are thinking and feeling inside an
unexpected situation." I am confused, again. Your example (above) does not seem
to show what the people are thinking or feeling inside this unexpected
situation, except (perhaps) the fact that those passerby are used to the
alligators and continue to walk on by without so much as a fraction of a glimpse
or flinch. Those passersby would not see those alligators as unexpected. But,
you could definitely argue that the disinterest in the alligators, by the
passersby is still a human interaction to the situation. Then, I would still try
to counter with the fact that they do Not see it as Unexpected, but would have
to agree that you can possibly see what the humans are thinking in this
unexpected situation "Have I done everything I have to do," or, "Am I going to
make it to the dining room without spilling this?"I have found each assignment
to be rather confusing inside the body of the original text and the updates. The
Balenciaga Bag best
consolation, BY FAR, even over any possible accomplishment of being published in
any assignment's resulting story, is the acquisition of new skills through the
practice and practice of photography in the act of trying to follow the
assignment.
To me, this shot exposes the intense cruelty and disrespectful actions of man
in yet another way. Animals and humans share the same needs, feelings, and
emotions. There is no difference whatsoever. It is high time to abandon shameful
OldWorldOrder patterns of cruelty towards and exploitation and murder of
animals. Through your photos, please be a bold leader into a New World Order
where animals and humans alike are treated with the utmost respect, kindness,
and compassion. For when we care for and cultivate creation including man and
animal when we share, we all have enough.
Although it is an unexpected moment, and hazardous to those who are unwarily
engrossed in their cel phones, capturing these exotic, wild creatures in a mall
seems as exploitative as advertising them for lunch. It is my personal feeling
wild animals should be protected by humans and not used as amusement or toys,
like a magnificent Tiger caged at a corner gas station for use as an attraction
or for photo shoots. It's the moral issue that bothers me. Taking pictures of
captured wild animals for the sake of an unusual photo seems wrong to me. If
they are in their natural habitat and they could bite your a off, that seems
more like a story to me and more courageous. This is demeaning the way they are
being treated. Now if there was some sort of empathy, or shining a light on this
mistreatment as an activist or if you were trying to rescue them it would be a
different story. I refuse to like photos of animals being exploited, well that's
just how I feel about it. If it was a child or any human, I'd feel the same way.
I have also given assignments to myself shooting the moon with various settings,
playing with points of view to practice composition, capturing the stars but
with as little noise in the photo as possible, practicing with different
settings to see how I can achieve that perfect depth of field in any given
scene, et cetera. However, it would be nice to have a clear understanding of the
goals of the assignment.
